#GALLERIES : Jean-Michel Othoniel and his « Monumental Sculptures » in Hong Kong

 For the first time , the artist Jean- Michel Othoniel , known for his sculptures in glass pearls is exposed in Hong Kong, at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin.

For over a month, the French artist is housed in this space of 650m2, located on the 17/F of 50 Connaught Road, in the heart of Central District. He presents four monumental and unique sculptures, made ​​of Murano glass pearls .

The visit begins at the groundfloor to the building with the work  » Double Collier Autoporté Or » a majestic work, whose monumental height overlooking the great hall, and illuminated by the light of day through its glass pearls gold leaf . Then continues on the 17/F , where we were welcomed by three large sculptures of light glasses, both fragile and architectural .

Othoniel is well known in France for these sculptural works , including the subway entrance to Paris , the famous « Kiosque des Noctambules » facing the Comédie Française, and taking the forms of Art Nouveau architect Hector Guimard. A project for the Bosquet du Théâtre d’Eau in the gardens of Versailles is planned for summer 2014.
