“SEOUL-PARIS-SEOUL” at Cernuschi Museum, Paris

On the occasion of the France-Korea year, the exhibition “Seoul-Paris-Seoul” will open on October 16th at the Cernuschi Museum. This exhibition will be devoted to Korean contemporary artists who have worked, or are still working in France.

The exhibition shows a historical and thematic approach to this subject through sections dedicated to the generation of pioneers of contemporary Korean art at the Academy of Oriental painting, relationships between Korean artists and School of Paris, the consequences of calligraphy practices on the work of these artists, the interest in traditional materials as well as their appeal to value creative process.

The sixty shown works come from the collections of the Cernuschi Museum, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Korea, Lee Ungno Daejeon Museum and private collections.

The most important Korean artists of XXth century, and some younger artists, are present in the exhibition : Pai Unsung, Rhee Seund Ja, Kim Whanki, Lee Ungno,  Bang Hai Ja, Han Mook, Moon Shin, Nam Kwan, Park Seo- Bo, Kim Tschang-Yeul, Yun Hyong-Keun, Shim Kyung Ja, Lee Bae, Chung Sang-Hwa, Paek Youngsu, Kim Guiline, Park In-Kyung, Hong Insook, Lee Jinwoo, Chae Sung-Pil, Won Sou-Yeol, Yoon-Hee.

As well as this exhibition will be the one on the Korean Figuration, from October 16 to November 7 2015, at the council building of the 8th district of Paris. In partnership with the Cernuschi Museum and the Friends of the Cernuschi Museum, the council building of the 8th district of Paris exhibits works produced by experienced or promising figurative artists.

Featured artists : His Seock, Yi Myung Rim Tchine Yu Yeung, Yoo Hye-Sook, Moon Chang-Dawn, Hosup Hwang, Jeung Hyun, Kwak Soo-Young, Kwum Sun-Cheol Min Jung-Yeon.
