JOURNÉES EUROPÉENNES DU PATRIMOINE 2017 : Asian art, things to do in Paris


As every year, Paris organizes Journées Européennes du Patrimoine. For 2 days, people can visit Paris monuments and museums. Free enters. And what about Asian arts ? Here you can find program.

Opened in 1889, renovated in 1997, this museum presents today one of the most complete collections of Asian art in the world. For Journées Européennes du Patrimoine 2017, the museum offers a most curious visit to the Hotel d’Heidelbach. Visitors can discover the reverse of the places through various living rooms and spaces of the Hotel. Guided walks in the area are also offered to discover, in an immersive way, the other private buildings arounding the museum.

The Cernuschi Museum was bequeathed to the City of Paris by the Italian financier Henri Cernuschi in 1896. It is the second Asian art museum in France and the fifth largest in Europe. For this event, the museum offers many activities. This year the theme is the game. In 1938, the French government bought the hotel and planed to install the sign of Radio-France. The building was largely destroyed by the bombing of the Second World War. From 1945 to 2007, the site successively welcomed several ministries. The hotel of Montesquiou is bought in 2010 by the Chinese government which then began work to rehabilitate this heritage. The hotel and its garden being listed as historic monuments since December 23, 1992.
